First Week

Well, week one is almost in the books.  Tomorrow is Kenpo and we can all celebrate our successful completion of hell week.  It was definitely a week of soreness and remembering we had muscles in every part of our bodies.  With the soreness and strained muscles comes success, though.  Even today, both Blake and Chris said that things were a bit easier.

4:45 in the morning comes early, but around 6:30 I am always in a good place.  I feel rejuvinated and I have a lot of energy to face the day.  It's been very rewarding in that regard.  So far, I have seen good success, thanks most in part to the fact that I was doing some work prior to starting the program.  I feel myself getting stronger, and I even had the energy to tackle a two-mile run last night.  I would really like to keep running in addition to the P90X workouts - we'll see if that happens.

Love that fact that I have my friends to keep me accountable and motivated...it's working out really well right now...only 11 more weeks to go.  : )

The Beginning

There is no doubt that at the ripe old age of 35 the body is taking a downhill turn.  The body doesn't respond as easy to exercise, and it responds to food in a much more negative way!  This blog will hopefully chronicle the journey of myself and my two friends, Chris and Blake, as we attempt to face the music and allow a program called P90X to try and transform our bodies.

We all have had our moments in the sun as athletes, but time, families, and the such have not allowed us to maintain a level of strength and conditioning we would all like.  Random spurts of running, biking, pushups, situps, etc. have never really panned out the way any of us would like, and we are all excited to have eachother to help keep us accountable as we work through this challenge together.

Day one was today - 4:45am came early, but we all arrived at the clinic ready to go at 5:00.  I admit that the past few weeks I have been doing a little running and doing a lot of pushups and situps.  Today was not as difficult a first day as I have had in the past - thank goodness.  I felt good, but as usual, I hate pull-ups!!

I am excited to watch the other two as they go through this program.  Chris is a big guy who has succeeded in the past at losing nearly 150 pounds.  I know his work ethic is there, and, like me, he will probably benefit from the accountability of others.  Blake is a naturally lean individual - a runner by hobby, he hasn't really spent a lot of time working on strength.  I firmly believe that he will see some amazing results, as his body type will allow for optimal muscle growth.

Today was filled with grunts, groans, laughter, and high fives.  I am excited for this opportunity, and I hope we persevere and conquer this endeavor.
